I wanted to introduce teeth cleaning and couldn't find a poem anywhere to introduce it, so, I wrote one. Hope you have fun with it!

The story is split into parts. The children choose which part they would like to compose for. The story is read again with the children playing on cue.

Work on syllables must precede the lessonDisplay the words. Read them . Which words rhyme? Emphasize that these words must come at the end of the sentence or phrase. Give an example. Children take turns to make up something with few syllables. They take turns with each new word. By the end of a lesson, you have a simple rap.

A simple but effective idea. The chant has a format. Children have to rewrite the spaces choosing appropriate words . They need to understand syllables before they can do this.

What is inspiration? Listen to 5 different composers who were inspired by Shakespeare. The PowerPoint explores different genres of music all with the same inspiration - Romeo and Juliet. The links are all to the full length versions of the clips above.

The sheets fold into a concertina to make a little booklet for their collection of long sounds. I open the images in windows gallery and print out an 8/1/2 x/11 paper. The sounds are Long a , e , i , o and u. Drawing is encouraged!
